Story Time
Starting today, I’ll be collecting stories from the church congregation. This coming year is Kilmakee Presbyterian’s 50th anniversary. As part of the celebration, we’re compiling a book of 50 stories of faith from the community. Part of my job is to visit people who have stories (mostly the elderly), talk with them, and help them write their stories concisely for the book. Once I’ve gotten 50 stories, the pastor and I will edit and compile them, to be (probably amateurly) published in February or so. As expected, it’s taken a bit of convincing to get people to think of their stories. Many who have stories either don’t think their stories are exciting enough, or are not convinced of their writing ability to record the story. But they’ve had some amazing life experiences, and I’m very much looking forward to hearing what they have to say.
Inspired by last week’s post, I am instituting a “word of the week” feature. So this week, the word of the week is: knackered. (Or perhaps it's spelled "nackered," I'm not sure, but I think the other way looks better.) “Knackered” roughly translateds to “exhausted.” As in, “Megan was knackered after spending two hours with the drama team and then two hours in a mandatory church Child Protection seminar.”

Hi Megan, Looks like you have been busy and doing what suits you...communicating with and for others. We have been praying for you and I will be posting your latest news in the Northwood newsletter today. Hope you are having a fun yet gratifying experience in Ireland. Sounds like you will be quite an asset in your group's projects. --Cathy Bowers
